- Uganda issues e-visas online for most nationalities.
- The East Africa Tourist Visa costs US$100 and covers Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda only.
Health
- Carry your yellow fever certificate.
- See a travel clinic 6 to 8 weeks before you go.
- Travel insurance with medical evacuation cover is a condition of booking.
Money
- Local currencies are Uganda shilling (UGX) and Kenya shilling (KES).
- Bring newer, undamaged US dollar notes for larger payments.
- Mobile money is used everywhere. Your guide can help you set it up.
When to go
Driest months: June to September and December to February. Long rains run March to May, with shorter rains around October and November.
Crossing the border by road
Your guide checks documents the night before, handles vehicle permits at the one-stop post, and schedules a meal right after. Expect around 1 to 2 hours.
